Introduction: The Rise of Al Hatab Bakery

Started in 1983 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Al Daajan Holding is a prominent name in the food industry, real estate investment, and general trade.

Leading the charge in their latest rise is their confectionary unit, Al Hatab Bakery and Supermarket. “Al Hatab Bakery is spearheading the Al Daajan group’s expansion,” said Ahmed Naguib, Application Manager for Al Daajan Holdings.

The Problem: Multiple Tools for Managing Sales, Operations, Tasks and Communications

“With 80+ stores and increasing, Al Hatab has an ever-growing list of managers, area managers, supervisors, and the sales team. The biggest challenge we faced was information sharing and consumption happening across platforms. Team members preferred different channels such as WhatsApp, email, calls, Excel sheets, etc. You name it,” highlighted Aqib Dar, IT Project Manager, who overlooks Wooqer implementation at Al Daajan Holdings.

“It became tough for us to get information in the same place, share it, and act upon it. Compiling information from different sources took more time than actually utilizing that information,” added Naguib.

Discovering Solutions: Setting up the Right Expectations and Exploring Solutions

Naguib, Aqib, and the team defined the problem, outlined business expectations for the solution, and proposed a single software to manage the entire operations.

“We did extensive research, tried multiple tools, and benchmarked performance. Since we listed down every requirement and expectation – it was easy for us to create a scorecard for every tool and Wooqer came out on top,” said Aqib.

“We knew Wooqer had most of the features and functionality we needed. Also, it was optimally priced for our budgets,” added Naguib.

Utilizing Wooqer: Meticulous Planning, Expansion, and Growing with Wooqer

The Al Daajan team’s execution in systematically moving towards 100% digitization is a case to behold. They started by quickly rolling out basic checklists, iterating on them, adding more advanced functionalities, and scaling to different functions.

“We started with basic checklists, then moved to data collection and advanced checklists. We rolled out to store staff first. Then, we exposed Wooqer to Supervisors, Area Managers, and the Quality Department. The quality departments is the latest to onboard on Wooqer systems and they are adding tasks and follow-ups to operation and store teams.”

“We have three departments (IT, Sales and Operations, and Quality) on Wooqer now, and we are gradually planning to move more to Wooqer. We ensure all three departments get all their work 100% on the Wooqer mobile app. That way, we are getting close to our goal of 100% digitization,” proudly highlighted Naguib.

From a Software to Way of Life at Al Daajan

Ahmed Taher, CIO of Al Daajan Group, shared, “Wooqer has impacted us as much as huge IT systems have. Most of our sales, quality, and operations processes are now paperless, starting with our Quality Department, which is now 100% paperless, thanks to Wooqer.”

Naguib and Aqib highlighted flexibility, scalability, and unparalleled functionality as the primary reasons for choosing Wooqer.

“Al Hatab Bakeries are expanding. Wooqer is expanding. We bank on the common goal of digitization and operational excellence. Hence, this partnership is very important to us,” added Naguib.

“The key to Wooqer’s success is simplicity, both in terms of the number of interactions required and the number of clicks needed to complete store operations. This is crucial. Unlike an ERP system that requires more clicks and more thinking, we needed something that is easy and straightforward for everyone to use since store operations and management software will reach every user,” said Naguib.

Thinking Ahead and Beyond: The Next Leap

Naguib and his team are thinking about the next level with Wooqer. “Al Daajan Holdings is one of the biggest groups in KSA, and we are very committed to the Saudi Vision 2030. Complete digitization, utilizing new-age technology, and operating at an unprecedented level is our goal,” Naguib said enthusiastically.

“We want to expand exponentially next year, so our vision is evident: We will utilize every feature of the Wooqer and deploy this product to every department of our company. We want to ensure digital and 100% efficient processes are the way of life at Al Daajan and Wooqer is our partner in this,” said Aqib.

Wooqer is also actively working with the Al Daajan group to enhance the data, reporting, insights, forecasting, and trends frameworks on the Wooqer platform.

With their vision of expanding Al Daajan group exponentially and, more importantly, expanding digitally and exceptionally, Wooqer and Al Daajan group are proud to lay out the path ahead for many retailers in Saudi Arabia.
